Who We Are

Golden Yards ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website goldenyardsmag.com. We are an independent online magazine and resource for California homeowners focused on outdoor living, including guides, cost calculators, and contractor matching.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Lead Request Form: Name, email address, phone number, ZIP code, project description, budget range, timeline, and preferred contact method.
  • Newsletter Signup: Email address only.
  • Contact or Feedback: Any information you voluntarily share via email or other communication.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Analytics: Page views, referrer URL, UTM campaign parameters, device type (mobile/desktop/tablet), and session identifiers. We use Google Analytics (GA4), which may set cookies and, where Google signals is enabled, associate activity with signed-in Google users for measurement and advertising.
  • Server Logs: IP address, browser type, and access timestamps. These are retained temporarily for security and operational purposes.

How We Use Your Information

  • To connect you with pre-vetted outdoor living contractors in your area (lead matching).
  • To send you the Golden Yards weekly newsletter, if you subscribe.
  • To understand how visitors use our site and improve our content and tools.
  • To respond to your questions or requests.
  • To detect and prevent fraud or abuse.

How We Share Your Information

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), some of the activities below are considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. You can opt out at any time — see Your California Privacy Choices below. We share your data in these cases:

  • Contractor Matching: When you submit a lead request, we share your project details and contact information with 2–3 vetted local contractors so they can provide you with quotes.
  • Advertising Platforms: We may share a hashed version of your email address or phone number with advertising platforms such as Google to show you relevant ads and to build advertising audiences (for example, Google Customer Match). Under California law this activity is considered "sharing" (and may be a "sale") of personal information.
  • Service Providers: We use Supabase (database hosting), Vercel (web hosting), and Resend (email delivery) to operate this site. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process.

Data Retention

  • Lead Requests: Retained for up to 24 months, then anonymized or deleted.
  • Newsletter Subscribers: Retained until you unsubscribe.
  • Analytics Data: Retained for up to 90 days, then automatically deleted.

Your Rights

Depending on your location (including under the California Consumer Privacy Act, CCPA), you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request deletion of your personal information.
  • Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information (see Your California Privacy Choices below).
  • Unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link in every email.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@goldenyardsmag.com.

Your California Privacy Choices

California residents have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of their personal information, including the use of hashed contact details to build advertising audiences (such as Google Customer Match). You can opt out in any of the following ways:

  • Email us at privacy@goldenyardsmag.com with the subject "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information."
  • Enable a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser. We treat a GPC signal as a valid request to opt out of sharing.

Opting out will not affect your ability to receive contractor quotes you have already requested.

Cookies

We use essential cookies for site functionality (e.g., authentication sessions) and analytics cookies through Google Analytics (GA4). Where Google signals is enabled, Google may use these cookies to associate activity with signed-in users for measurement and advertising.

Children's Privacy

Golden Yards is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
